About The Role:
As a Design Engineer specializing in Pneumatic/Mechanical Conveying Systems at Rieco Industries Ltd, you will be responsible for designing and developing layouts for conveying systems tailored to the specific requirements of each project. This role requires expertise in engineering calculations, CAD software proficiency, material selection, equipment evaluation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration and compliance with industry standards.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • System Design and Development: Design and develop layouts of pneumatic/mechanical conveying systems, considering project-specific requirements and parameters.
  • Engineering Calculations: Conduct basic engineering calculations for system capacity, flow, and pressure drop through pipes, as well as mechanical component sizing. Apply knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) as needed.
  • Material Selection: Have knowledge of material construction for pipes, plates, sheet metal, structural members, castings, and forgings used in conveying systems.
  • Technical Drawing Preparation: Prepare technical drawings, including P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), layout drawings, and equipment GA/detail drawings using 2D/3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Solid Edge).
  • Bill of Materials (BOM) Preparation: Generate bill of materials using CAD tools and release drawings to manufacturing through SAP.
  • Equipment Evaluation and Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate equipment such as blowers, compressors, dust collectors, valves, gearboxes, couplings, motors, and bearings for the pneumatic conveying system.
  • Procurement Support: Assist in the procurement process by preparing technical specifications, evaluating vendor proposals, and conducting technical reviews of equipment.
  • Document Management: Ensure timely and quality release of design documents and maintain records related to engineering change/revision management, including design change notes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of the pneumatic conveying system into larger projects.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations during the design and implementation phases.
  • Installation and Troubleshooting Support: Provide support during the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of the pneumatic conveying system, addressing any design-related issues that may arise.
  • Continuous Learning and Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in pneumatic/mechanical conveying systems. Apply this knowledge to enhance design methodologies and improve project outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in design engineering, preferably in pneumatic/mechanical conveying systems or related fields.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Solid Edge.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct engineering calculations and evaluations.
  • Knowledge of material selection, equipment sizing, and technical drawing preparation.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes and vendor evaluation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality in design documentation and project execution.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
